Eva Janse

My name is Eva Janse and I am the Commissioner Activities of the XXIXth board of the Financial Study association Rotterdam. I always knew I wanted to study in Rotterdam, and last year I finished my bachelor’s in Business Administration there. During my studies, I noticed I got the most energy from the number-based parts, from classes where numbers and strategy came together. That’s how I found out I was mostly interested in finance, consultancy and accountancy, even though I didn’t know yet which direction to pick.

There seemed to be so many options, but I didn’t really know what they all meant in practice. So I started looking for a way to explore more, learn about different fields, and develop myself along the way, to find out what really fits me. I didn’t just want to read about it, I wanted to try it myself.

Through talking to a lot of different people, I got to know FSR. I had coffee chats with several former board members, which gave me a full picture of the association. I heard a lot of good stories and learned about how much everyone had grown during their board year. What convinced me most was how excited they were when they talked about it: everyone showed how much they had learned, and how much fun they’d had together.

My role as Commissioner Activities

As Commissioner Activities, I organise all the Consultancy and Accountancy events, including the International Research Project, where a group of 20 students carries out FSR’s biggest consultancy project in the second half of the year. The Women Consultancy Days, the Consultancy Tour and the Big 4 Cycle are also mine to organise, and on top of that I take care of HR and plan activities for our active members.

Besides the professional side, a board year is also just really enjoyable: you get to know each other so well in a short time, and that’s what makes it special. I like doing sports in my free time, and I’ve really gotten back into running. I’m trying to keep that up this year too.
