Mark de Reus

Hi Everyone! I am Mark de Reus, the Treasurer of the XXVIIth board of the Financial Study association Rotterdam (FSR). I lived in Amsterdam for my entire life until I moved to Rotterdam for my studies. Here, I started with a bachelor in International Business Administration. I liked the more quantitative courses by far the most, which made me decide to also pursue a master in Finance & Investments.

However, even after finishing this master I felt like I did not really know much about what working in finance is actually like. What happens day-to-day? What are the cultural differences between firms, etc.?

Last year, I went to a couple of FSR events to find answers to such questions, and it helped a lot. I also joined a trip committee at another association, which I look back on very positively. Both the organisational part, the trip itself, and the people that went were all great.

A board year at FSR was the perfect opportunity to combine learning more about the industry, organizing events, and meeting new people! Besides pinning down what area of finance I am most interested in, I also want to develop myself professionally and improve my skills.

My role as Treasurer

As Treasurer, the financial side of FSR and all that comes with it is my main responsibility. I keep a close eye on our budget, make strategic adjustments when necessary, and ensure the association remains financially healthy. That means working closely with my board members for all events. Besides the day-to-day business, I am always looking at the future of the association. Additionally, I will lead the Asset Management Tour, Conferences, and Masterclass committees.
