Bart van IJken

My name is Bart van IJken and I am the Commissioner Finance Activities of the XXVIIth board of the Financial Study association Rotterdam (FSR). Three years ago, I started the bachelor Econometrics and Operational Research in Rotterdam. Besides my studies I like kitesurfing, playing tennis and padel.

My role as Commissioner Finance Activities

During my bachelor’s degree I discovered my interest in Finance. Therefore, I decided to participate in multiple events organised by FSR. After participating in these events, I was curious about the other aspects of finance (M&A, asset management, private equity, etc.) and therefore I decided to apply for a board year at FSR.  A board year at FSR is the perfect opportunity for me to further orient myself within the financial sector, further develop my non-academic skills and meet new people with the same interests.

As Commissioner Finance Activities, my main responsibility is to organise the finance-related events of FSR. These events are International Banking Cycle (IBC), Financial Career Cycle (FCC), Corporate Finance Competition (CFC), PE Days, Valuation, M&A Days and London Finance Tour (LFT). I will organise these events together with my fellow board members and committees, which further increases soft skills such as communication and leadership.
