Maaike van Rijs
My name is Maaike van Rijs and I am the Commissioner Activities of the XXVIIIth board of the Financial Study association Rotterdam. Four years ago I moved to Rotterdam to start my Bachelor in Economics and Business Economics. Besides my studies, I like running and playing field hockey.
My role as Commissioner Activities
During my bachelor's degree, I discovered my interest in finance. Given the numerous opportunities within this sector, I aim to explore the various aspects of finance during my board year to determine which field suits me best. Furthermore, I seek to enhance my professional development and connect with like-minded individuals. A board year provides experience in organizing events, communicating with major corporations, and managing diverse tasks. Overall, serving as a board member at the FSR is an ideal way for me to refine my skills and decide which area of finance I want to pursue in the future.
As the Commissioner Activities, I have several key responsibilities. Firstly, I oversee various events such as the Big 4 Cycle, Consultancy Landscape and Women Consultancy Days. In addition, I am in charge of Human Resources, including the recruitment of new committee members for the FSR and managing the Active Members. One of the greatest benefits of being the Commissioner of Activities is that I also serve as Chair of the International Research Project, the largest event organized by FSR. This project involves a group of twenty master’s students conducting research for five different partners. Upon completing the initial desk research, the group travels abroad for a month to finalize their findings.
If you have any questions regarding being a board member at FSR, feel free to contact me at any time or to drop by the office in G-Building G3-06.
