Baukje Makkus

My name is Baukje Makkus and I am the Commissioner Finance Activities of the XXVIIIth board of the Financial Study association Rotterdam (FSR). Last year I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Rotterdam. Outside of my studies, I enjoy going to the gym, traveling and cooking.

My role as Commissioner Finance Activities

Last year I organised the STAR Management Week, which gave me some valuable insights into the many different aspects of the corporate world. That’s where I discovered my interest in Finance and became eager to explore it further. Through conversations with many different people, I was introduced to FSR. I had drinks with several different members of previous boards which sparked my enthusiasm to apply for a board year at FSR. For me, joining the board at FSR is the perfect opportunity to further orient myself within the financial sector, further develop my non-academic skills and meet new people with the same interests.

As Commissioner Finance Activities, my main responsibility is to organise the finance-related events of FSR. These events are International Banking Cycle (IBC), Financial Career Cycle (FCC), Corporate Finance Competition (CFC), PE Days, Valuation, M&A Days and London Finance Tour (LFT). I will organise these events together with my fellow board members and committees, which further increases soft skills such as communication and leadership.
