On the 17th of January, the Financial Study association Rotterdam organises the Sustainable Finance Conference. This event contains workshops organized by Shell and Heineken in the morning and a conference on sustainability in the afternoon.

The goal of this event is to discuss how the financial sector deals with sustainable development. The focus of the event is on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, as defined by the UN.

These Sustainable Development Goals are the UN’s blueprint for a more sustainable future. During the conference, our three guest speakers from Shell, Amundi and Unilever will tell more about how their company incorporate these goals in the manner they conduct business. What are these companies currently doing to improve their sustainability and what are their long-term visions? All of these questions will be discussed during the conference. After the conference, there will be a closing drink, sponsored by Amundi. Here you will be able to talk with the speakers and other students about the subject.

  • Amundi Asset Management: Amundi is the European Leader in Asset Management and ranks in the top 10 globally. This year they launched its 2021 Action Plan, with the aim of strengthening its engagement in responsible investment.

  • Shell: Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies with an average of 86,000 employees in more than 70 countries. They use advanced technologies and take an innovative approach to help build a sustainable energy future.

  • Unilever: Unilever is a worldwide market leader in the fast moving consumer goods, with 400 brands in over 190 different countries. As one of the first businesses of its kind, Unilever created the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP). This plan included cutting quarterly reports and focusing on long-term growth rather than short-term cashing. Next to stimulating growth, Unilever tries  to increase the positive social impact.

Before the conference, there will be two finance-workshops organized by Shell and Heineken. Click here for more information about the workshop.
