Entrepreneurial Shipping Analyst

Den Haag
Banking, M&A

Are you our new colleague? We are looking for an entrepreneurial Analyst in our Shipping and Intermodal team!

Job Description:

Let us tell you why you might be interested to work for in NIBC’s Shipping & Intermodal team…

Well, first of all within NIBC, we focus already for decades on the financing and advisory of maritime companies and investors in the main maritime centers in North West Europe. Our clients operate in a dynamic global industry, which plays a pivotal role in the world economy by carrying around 90% of the international trade.

Secondly, we love customized solutions where we concentrate on our clients’ needs during decisive moments and add value on a transactional basis. We believe that standardized banking service is a thing of the past and being entrepreneurial and inventive is at the core of what we do. As such, we are constantly seeking to develop products and services that are tailored to meet our clients’ evolving needs. To be able to act as the preferred sparring partner, the Shipping & Intermodal team joins forces with other Corporate Banking departments and strategic partners to develop innovative ideas to further grow and enhance our services via new products and/or new partnerships. This gives you exposure to many different areas of the business and contribute to a diverse combination of work.

Finally, we also find it important to be kind to the environment and NIBC Shipping & Intermodal is very proud to be one of the front runners in developing a responsible ship recycling standard. Sustainability is an increasingly important topic in the shipping industry and, although we focus on financing modern ships which will not be recycled for a long time, we see the importance of our role in the supply chain to take this to the next level.

So what will you actually do?

As an Analyst you will be playing an important role in the S&I team. You work in small teams with colleagues you can learn from and together you build relationships with existing clients to find the best solutions for all stakeholders involved. It means that you know the clients (many of them are internationally based) inside out and really understand their strategy, operations, successes but also shortcomings. To be able to do that we ask you to perform research of industry trends, to prepare periodic credit reviews, to make financial analyses, to negotiate legal terms and to pro-actively contribute to our ambition to continuously improve ourselves. In the process, you work closely with many internal and external professionals from different other disciplines.

What do you need?

  • Professional with a university degree in a relevant field such as economics, business, finance or econometrics, or an MBA.
  • 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in a lending related or M&A environment. Knowledge of the maritime industry is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Being able to work pro-actively and independently in a ‘Think Yes’ environment, in which good interpersonal skills make the difference.
  • Flexible team player with the ability to deal with ad hoc requests, often with tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English, Dutch is a plus.

What you will get?

NIBC is a relatively small bank with a very dynamic and informal culture. We nurture our entrepreneurial and inventive culture by providing modern flexible devices and working spaces. You can therefore work where and when you want, which improves your performance and work-life balance. You will have a direct impact on both the bank and its clients. Being an Analyst in our bank will give you substantial responsibilities, direct exposure to senior management and enable you to rapidly understand how the whole bank works and where you can best leverage your talents. Top talents are invited to participate in tailored development programs or are invited to special task forces.

Our purpose is to make a difference at decisive moments for our clients. The inventiveness of our solutions often determines our ability to do this. And inventive ideas arise from diverse teams. We are therefore looking for people with different profiles and who want to contribute to the openness and inclusiveness of our culture. To increase our professionalism we also focus on giving each other continuous feedback. A high performance culture can only be sustained with talented individuals who are always ready to take the next step to grow.
